Rapid Application Development Livecode Community Edition 9.6.3 (GPL 2021)
A downloadable tool for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Livecode Community Edition is a free and open source application development platform that lets you design, program and build graphical user interface or headless command line executables in a natural language syntax with real time What You See Is What You Get results.
Design, Code, & Test all in one very well crafted and smooth interface with over 20 years of feature improvements behind it.
Build apps for Windows, Mac, Linux, and the web with just one code base.
- Drag and Drop GUI app design
- 2D vector and raster (pixel) graphics
- Sound libraries
- Debugging tools
- Immediate mode scripting
- Networking
Included in the 9.6.3 versions is LiveCode Builder; a powerful (optional) language that extends the capabilities of LiveCode for:
- Systems Building: LiveCode Builder is specifically designed for creating system-level components. It allows you to build low-level functionality, interact with APIs, and create custom solutions.
- Widgets and Object Types: You can use LiveCode Builder to create custom widgets and new object types within your LiveCode applications. These widgets enhance the user interface and provide specialized functionality.
- Accessing Lower-Level APIs: LiveCode Builder enables you to directly interact with lower-level APIs in operating systems, applications, and dynamic link libraries (DLLs). This means you can integrate with external services, hardware, and other software components.
- Static Compilation and Typing: LiveCode Builder offers static compilation with optional static typing. This enhances performance and allows you to catch type-related errors early during development.

Oh wow, there was a whole Livecode Game Jam in 2014
The "Player" Applications are for running "stacks" without all the IDE.
Note: I do not make this software, I'm just providing it as the "Community" was abandoned in 2021 in favor of a subscription model.
You are very much welcome to try the corporate supported Commercial version at https://livecode.com/ for ten days free.
There is a community working hard to keep the GPL RAD revolution alive, you can join them at : OpenXTalk
You can find the source code for the OpenXTalk project on github: https://github.com/OpenXTalk-org/OpenXTalk-Community-DPE
This page is made to give the public an opportunity to get involved and get familiar with the development paradigm while OpenXTalk is under construction.
Special thanks to itchi.io for giving us a platform where we don't have to do all the HTML, CSS, Javascript, XML bla bla bla just to give people free software that allows to them to program interactive media in a much less cryptic syntax.
You still reading this? Well, FYI a lot of the demos in the GIFS over there were made in the last two months by xAction, some of it was done long ago by people who actually knew what they were doing. Just think what you could do!
